چکیده

A near-field probe fabrication technique for far-infrared frequencies based on photoconducting antennas is developed. A subwavelength-size field source is accomplished by means of an aperture and protruding high refractive index tip. The near-field probe is tested by using free space traveling electromagnetic pulses with a broadband spectrum in the range of 0.3–1.5 THz. A spatial resolution of 60 mm is achieved for a 50 mm aperture. The described probe may be used for near-field transmission microscopy in illumination and collection modes. Resolution may be further improved by means of a smaller aperture. © 2000 American Institute of Physics. @S0003-6951~00!04630-1#

Plasmonic Probe With Circular Nano-Moat for far-Field Free Nanofocusing

In this work, a metallic probe with a sharp tip and two half-circular nanostructures on its base is introduced and investigated. The proposed design aims at improving the detection performance of a probe for scattering scanning near-field optical microscopy in terms of enhanced signal-to-noise ratio. Under the premise of processing feasibility, the structure of the probe is designed and optimiz...

Near-field scanning optical microscope probe analysis.

In this article results of a comparison of two NSOM probe characterization methods are presented. Scanning electron microscopy analysis combined with electromagnetic field modeling using the finite difference in time domain method are compared with measured far-field radiation diagrams of NSOM probes. It is shown that measurement of far-field radiation diagrams can be an efficient tool for dail...

Near-field microscopy of spontaneous THz radiaion

We have developed a THz near-field microscope with an ultrahighly sensitive detector, CSIP (charge-sensitive infrared phototransistor). In our microscope, scattered photons by a tungsten probe are collected by an objective of a confocal THz microscope and are finally detected by the CSIP. To suppress the far-field background, the probe vertically modulated and the signal is demodulated the sign...

Ultrafast and nanoscale plasmonic phenomena in exfoliated graphene revealed by infrared pump-probe nanoscopy.

Pump-probe spectroscopy is central for exploring ultrafast dynamics of fundamental excitations, collective modes, and energy transfer processes. Typically carried out using conventional diffraction-limited optics, pump-probe experiments inherently average over local chemical, compositional, and electronic inhomogeneities. Here, we circumvent this deficiency and introduce pump-probe infrared spe...

Thermal infrared near-field spectroscopy.

Despite the seminal contributions of Kirchhoff and Planck describing far-field thermal emission, fundamentally distinct spectral characteristics of the electromagnetic thermal near-field have been predicted. However, due to their evanescent nature their direct experimental characterization has remained elusive. Combining scattering scanning near-field optical microscopy with Fourier-transform s...
